Cowboy Nachos, Quartzsite Museum, Fewer Vendors and New Neighbours All Around Us.

Our Location today is La Posa South L.T.V.A., Quartzsite, Arizona, U.S.A. Click on the pictures to enlarge..

After laying awake and staring at the ceiling for the better part of an hour I finally just got out of bed at 7:30 MST this morning. The glow from the Sun could be seen above the Mountain Range to the east and the Mountains to the west were bathing in a pink hue. I’d managed to attend to all my early chores before the Sun finally popped into view.

I got an early start to my morning reading on the Computer checking The Weather Network and News along with reading E-Mails before getting to the Blog. As soon as I opened “It’s about time” I could hear Kathy making her way from the bedroom. The first thing she did when we met was show me that she was able to breathe through both nostrils. She has continued taking the Mucinex-D at night only and has been slowly noticing an improvement with her Congestion Issues.

We kept breakfast lite by having the last of the Muffins we’d gotten at Walmart in Parker on Tuesday. Heading back to the Computers with our Coffees we got caught up on everyone’s Adventures. After getting our morning reading and chores finished we were soon heading out the Door. We had only driven part way to the Wash when Kathy realized that she had forgotten something causing us to head back Home for a few minutes.
An Oldsmobile at the Main Street Restaurant.
Our destination today was the Main Street Restaurant in Quartzsite. With this being Thursday and the heavy crowds have left town they are now back to serving their Daily Specials and today’s special was Cowboy Nachos. Today we had Michelle herself as our waitress and as soon as she came to get our drink order we told her Unsweetened Ice Tea and Cowboy Nachos. She didn’t even write it down but disappeared then came back with our Drinks.
Cowboy Nachos.
A table of Six sat next to us and gave their Drink Orders but weren’t ready to order their meals yet. When Michelle delivered our Cowboy Nachos some of that group were asking “What is That?” She just lowered the plate slightly so they could see before serving it to us. She had three more orders from that table from those facing us. When she started bringing out their plates the people with their backs to us were saying “I wish I had ordered that”.
Low Doorway inside the Museum.
Cowboy Nachos are Homemade Potato Chips with Chipped Beef, Shredded Cheese, Onions, Cilantro, Peppers, Beans, Salsa and Sour Cream. To say they are Delicious is an understatement. I said to Michelle “They are a Snack that makes a Meal.”

When we left we wanted to check out something in Quartzsite that we haven’t seen before. With Kathy being sick for so long this year and Crowds of people, many Sneezing and Coughing without covering up, we stayed away. Today we went to the Quartzsite Museum. Lots of people had written about it but still lots don’t know its location. It’s in a small building right behind Silly Al’s and other then a small sign you would not know what it is.
Our Docent Richard.
Manned strictly by Resident Volunteers they have been documenting the History of Quartzsite from its early days as an Army Outpost to Gold Mining all the way to present day. They showed how saluting the Flag was changed when it looked like it was in support of Nazism. They had a Punishment List of offences and how many Lashes would be handed out for each. Richard the Docent was a wealth of information telling us of many changes over time. He also answered the question as to “Why the Army experiment to use Camels failed?” You’ll have to visit yourselves to get the answer.
Out House and Mariquita Assay Office moved to this location.
Admission is Free but donations are excepted. They highly stress that you sign The Visitors Book which helps garner them a Historic Designation. The parking lot holds less then a dozen vehicles and is not RV Friendly.
Old Mining Cars
It was still early when we left so we stopped at the Vendors Area on Tyson Wells Road to see who was left and to get some walking in. With all the crowds that have walked through this area lately we were tripping on some uneven gravel that had been used to fill those uneven spots. With the thinning of the crowds most Vendors are reducing their Prices to get rid of their stock rather then having to take it away at the end of the season. A few of those reduced Priced Items came Home with us with the intention of “One in One out”. Not having been doing much walking lately we only covered half the Vendors Area before heading back to La Posa South LTVA.
Our bicycle cover in the bottom right.
We had barely finished opening the remaining Windows in the Trailer and had just sat down to relax when we started hearing lots of noise outside. The next thing we knew, there were Two “A” Class Motorhomes pulling in on our North side where our other neighbours had left yesterday. Before we got over that we heard another door slam to the South of us and there was the Overnighter back on that side.
The Overnighter was back visiting with our neighbours.
There are chores that need to be done regularly to RVs and we had already talked about it while driving Home that today was the day. With all the noise going on in our normally quiet area I placed our Waste Barrel in the back of the Truck and things got Quiet. Then Wayne showed up to ask how we were liking our new neighbours, LOL. There was a lot of empty space beyond his trailer but it seemed these people all want to be Close to us. He and Sue had gone to Yuma because his phone was still showing $1.619 a Gallon for Diesel but when he got there it was $2.619.

Kathy made Manwich Sloppy Joes for supper along with Pudding Cups which again made for a lite meal.

Tilting the Waste Barrel like I had with the Fresh Water Barrel I really emptied our Tanks. It was once again past 6:00 when I arrived at the Dump Station and there was nobody else there. It takes very little time to empty and rinse our barrel. It also took half the time to get back Home.

Tomorrow we might be heading back to Parker and if so I’ll let you know why. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

Witty Words of Wisdom

The things that come to those that wait may be the things left by those who got there first.

  3. Thanks for the tip about the Museum. I will be sure to check it out when we are up that way in March. The camel story fascinates me.
