Shipshewana, Indiana.

Our Location today is Shipshewana, Indiana, U.S.A.

After we posted last night’s blog from the West-end Walmart in Windsor we had quite a surprise upon leaving the store, it was raining. Lucky for us it wasn’t that intense but it was enough we needed to dry our jackets when we got back Home for the night. We didn’t waste much time getting ready to go to bed but did stay up reading until nearly 10:30. Sleeping was no issue at all as it rained throughout the night. It was only when the odd claps of thunder momentarily woke us that Kathy’s sleep was broken. By 6:30 this morning we were both wide awake listening to the sounds of heavy construction equipment maneuvering outside our windows. After a quick look outside to make certain we weren’t imagining things we had a muffin to carry us through and quickly closed up our site at Camp Walmart.
Pulling out of Camp Walmart this morning.
Within ten minutes we’d managed to head north to the E.C. Rowe Expressway west to Huron Church Road and were taking the onramp to the Ambassador Bridge headed for Detroit, Michigan.
It must be the requirements of the Immigration Officers chosen for this particular bridge crossing to look like they are doing us a favour by allowing us to cross at this location but finally after a quick inspection we were wished Safe Travels.
Leaving the Ambassador Bridge, we traveled to I-94 westbound towards Chicago. Our intended destination was Camping World in Belleville Michigan. There were a number of products that we had researched online that we wanted to pick up. We walked out with only two because the other two products were strictly offered online, not by in-store purchases so once we get settled in someplace we can have them delivered right to our door. We knew there was a nearby Verizon outlet nearby so Kathy asked one of the associates at Camping World about its location. She Googled its location for Kathy and told us exactly where it was.
Lucky for us the Verizon store was located directly in front of the Belleville Square Mall; also lucky for us was the fact that right next door to Verizon was a McDonalds and since we’d only had a muffin for breakfast before 7:00 and it was nearly 10:30 we needed more breakfast. It surely wasn’t too much to eat but it refreshed us both.
Going to the Verizon store we explained the problems we were having to reactivate our old MiFi to Kevin and his partner. Their solution was don’t worry about the old MiFi and simply get a new one. Within forty-five minutes we had a brand-new MiFi Jetpack from Verizon and no issues about our Canadian Address.
Getting back to the truck we simply drove it to the opposite end of the parking lot where we spent the next hour as we picked up food stocks that we had been unable to bring across the border with us. It was past 1:00 by the time we got everything packed away and back on I-94 continuing west until reaching US-60 South.
This route would take us through many small towns along with some breathe taking views of the fall colours. It also brought us through a construction zone that had us trapped from our route. When the traffic became gridlocked the contractors realized they had three lines of traffic from different directions stopped and the only way to get them moving was to lift their barricades to let everyone through.
Crank in, Back out fuel up.
Not far up the road we needed to stretch our legs and incorporated it with a fuel pick up which meant wiggling through another construction zone and maneuvering through a parking lot that barely fit the truck. Kathy had to play lookout while I backed up a few times but we made it.
It looked like a heart from a distance ant it is one tree.
When Kathy set the GPS for a Shipshewana address she didn’t realize that she had set it to go to the Campground rather than to Wayne’s shop who is supposed to modify one of our cabinets for us and since it was already past 5:00 we just set up camp for the night. It took some doing because these sites are all on the sides of a hill but we got leveled.
I called and left Wayne a message but when we started feeling hungry because breakfast was long gone we headed to Das Dutchman Essenhaus country kitchen in Middlebury for supper. They serve the best roasted chicken we have ever tasted anywhere but we also know not to go to the Country Buffet side of the restaurant if we want to be able to walk back to our vehicle. Making our choices from the Menu we were more than satisfied but not stuffed.
Back at Home by 8:00 I thought to check the phone settings on our new TracFone and found instead some missed calls one of which one was from Wayne. Kathy suggested calling him right then and there. He answered on the second ring so we now have to meet him by 9:00 in the morning at his shop that he gave me directions to. As soon as I was off the phone with him I changed a number of settings on the TracFone so hopefully now we’ll hear it when it rings.
Now we have to get up early again tomorrow and we are both wondering when our vacation is going to start. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.
