Getting It Together, Making Progress, More Rain and Surprise Visit.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada. 

After all the years spent doing shift work throughout our careers is it any wonder that our bodies only allow us to sleep a few hours at a time and then make up for it by sleeping later than you really want. We did have our breakfast completed by 9:00 this morning giving us some time at the computers before having to get serious.  

After a quick call we were soon on our way to Sun Parlour Trailer in Amherstburg to pick up our new Oxygenic Bath Spa Shower Head. In each of our previous trailers our shower heads had an off mode that allowed for scrubbing your hair or body after lathering up. Our newest trailer seems to have taken a step back making it so you have to shut the water valves off only to have to play with them when you need to rinse off. We have also read many RV blogs that praise the water saving abilities of the Oxygenic Shower Head. Cathy was all smiles when we walked in and we had a short visit until other customers walked in. Rob was busy showing travel trailers to young couples who are just starting the RV way of life. 

Instead of heading back Home we continued on to our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa’s home. When we sold our home years ago I made a deal with Kevin about storing my tools and a few other things. A couple of those things were also the cause of my sleeplessness last night because I was busy modifying one to fit the rear of our trailer. It is a bicycle rack that I made to fit our Cougar fifth wheel trailer and it worked great. With minor work it will fit nicely on the rear bumper of our new trailer. Since we also plan on boondocking bringing our Blue-Boy along for the ride might be a very useful thing. We had a very short visit while I tied things down in the back of the truck because they were getting ready for a get-together of Melissa’s coworkers later today. 

We made a quick stop at the Amherstburg Home Hardware Building Center where I was able to find replacement Stainless Steel bolts for the Wind Deflector as the original ones were showing signs of wear but they didn’t have the other Stainless fittings I needed. Home Hardware Stores are independently owned and operated so just because one of their locations have what you want or need it doesn’t mean that the rest will. 

Once we were Home It didn’t take long for Kathy to put together a couple more of the Corned-Beef Sandwiches like we had the other day along with a fresh salad. We were both well satisfied with that little bit so while Kathy washed the dishes I donned my coveralls and headed outside. 

The first thing was to empty the back of the truck then to attempt to remove the Air-Bags. From past experience with our previous truck and trailer adding the Air-Bags on the rear of our truck was one of the first things we had installed. When not towing it is recommended lowering the air pressure to no less than five pounds but I preferred ten. Last year when Jim did the yearly Safety he noticed there was a leak in one but since we weren’t planning on going anywhere last winter we saved that repair for this year. After spraying all the bolts with WD-40 I would only manage to remove four bolts, snap off three others and spend nearly an hour using Vise-Grips to almost remove another that the head stripped off. 

The sound of approaching thunder had me closing up my tools and going inside. I would barely have my coveralls off when skies opened up for the next hour. Later checking the rain gauge would show we received an inch and a quarter (1-1/4”) of rain in that short time. 

I used the inside time to install the new Oxygenics shower head and the frame around the bathroom skylight that I made last night. Before I knew it Kathy was calling me to supper where she had made chicken noodle soup as well as grilled cheese sandwiches. We were again very satisfied with our light meal. 

We were watching the 6 0’clock News when suddenly there was a knock on our door. It was our good friend Pauline. Kathy had E-mailed her about our new trailer and because Pauline was attending a family reunion at the Wildwood Clubhouse and since others were still eating she walked over for a short visit. Before she returned to the reunion Kathy gave her the grand tour just like she had recently gotten with the other trailer and she was really impressed. 

After Pauline left I assembled the screen door bar and with Kathy’s assistance marked and drilled the door before mounting it in place. We had installed the same bar on the Avalanche and found it made closing the door so much easier. We were having a difficult time without it on our new door.
