Ways To Deal With The Heat.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Even though I’d had a good workout recreating the Patio at our daughter’s home yesterday with the help of our grandson Tyler I still kept waking up throughout the night. When I finally woke up just after 8:00 this morning I immediately started getting things ready for breakfast. The rattling of the coffee cups was all it took to wake Kathy. We spent a short amount of time reading on the computers but made certain to be out of the apartment before 10:00 when the building had planned to shut the power off in order to replace a troublesome electrical breaker. Since the Weather Network as well as the local News had both forecasted a warmer temperature and Humidex we figure escaping to the Air Conditioned confines of the Devonshire Mall was a great way to pass some time.
Again the Before picture of the patio.
Turning out of the parking lot onto Tecumseh Road traffic came to a near halt and not because of the construction ahead but an accident filling the intersection with emergency response vehicles. Finally making it to the expressway we only traveled approximately a mile before being detoured to the service roads. There had been an accident between a car and a motorcycle overnight that turned into a fatality. Police had the expressway closed in both directions while they did the accident reconstruction measurements and such. I later learn the driver of the car was charged with Distracted Driving as well as Dangerous Driving because he rear-ended the Honda Goldwing motorcycle that was travelling at highway speed in the same direction.
Tyler and myself finishing the new improved patio.
Our first stop at the mall was at Sears where Kathy returned the package she’d picked up the other day. We even spent time walking around inside of Sears noting how much had changed. What used to be a vibrant business has been scaled back considerably.

We continued walking around the mall until just before noon when we went to the Food Court to have our lunch. While we took our time eating we spent the time doing something that has amused us over the years. People Watching! You will actually get a chuckle watching some people and the things they do that draw others attention to them without their realizing it.

It was past 1:30 when we started heading towards home and the expressway was still closed off.

Kathy felt like she was melting just walking to and from the car even though I got the car as close to the door as possible for her. We talked with Sandy our neighbor and she said the power never went off all day. Management must have realized they chose the wrong day to shut the power when everyone in the building would need to use their Air Conditioners. The Weather Network is forecasting cooler temperatures for next week.

After supper we drove out to Amherstburg for our weekly Wednesday evening visit with Kevin and Melissa. As usual we had an enjoyable visit that had lots of laughter rolled in.

I just sat down to write this post when our daughter Karen called making certain that I was okay. She said when I left last night I was looking pretty worn out. I appreciated the gesture but it had been a long hot day and thankfully Tyler had been there to help me out. She’s very happy with the way the patio turned out.

Tomorrow we have lots to do because we are out of here on Friday. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. Outside, under a shade tree, light country breeze and fresh air and the occasional dip on the pool works for us.
    No shopping malls for us.
