Closet Shelf Adjustment and Sinfully Delicious Pie!

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Last night I was so tired that I barely had the blog posted before heading off to bed. About 1:30 I woke up feeling like I was going to be ill so I simply sat in the recliner in the living room hoping for it to pass. Of course I was in and out of wakefulness until I felt stable enough to go back to bed after 4:30. When I’m not in bed that affects Kathy’s sleep so she spent most of the early morning tossing and turning as well. We both managed to sleep past 8:30 in an effort to catch up on our broken sleep. We had plans for today but because I still wasn’t feeling 100 percent we took the time to do our morning reading before gathering what we’d be needing for the day before leaving.

The weather had taken a turn back to early April temperatures. It was 41 F (5 C) when we stepped out the door this morning and would only reach 54 F (12 C) for a daytime high. With the cold northerly breeze it would continue to feel far less then the posted temps.

Our destination this morning was our son Kevin’s home in Amherstburg so that I could use the table saw to modify the shelving unit for the trailer closet. When we arrived Kevin was in the process of cleaning some of the tools that were in the house from his in progress home renovation. While I brought my materials to the garage Kathy went inside to start setting up lunch that she’d made at home for all of us but Kevin passed as he’d just eaten a late breakfast.

After lunch Kathy busied herself with a map and some notes that she had made trying to find someplace for us to stop on our return trip from North Carolina that we’ll be leaving for on the 21st. Kevin kept cleaning things up and reorganizing the new kitchen cabinetry that he recently installed. It took me about ten minutes to unbury the table saw five minutes to set the ripping fence and four minutes to cut 3&3/8” off all the pieces.

The next stage for me was to layout where I would be inserting doweling. In the original design the shelves were held in place by plastic mounting pins but with all the rough roads they didn’t hold the shelves in place. Besides the doweling I also added one screw per shelf making certain they were properly countersunk. Once the shelf was completed it was twenty pounds lighter than originally and rock solid.

For supper Kathy and I went to Maria’s restaurant in Amherstburg. Every Wednesday their special is an Eight piece Broasted Chicken Dinner for two. Our diets went out the window this evening as we both ate two pieces of the chicken along with the Cole slaw and Broasted wedged potatoes. We still have enough chicken pieces for another meal but since we were enjoying the warmth of the hot tea we splurged and ordered each a slice of Chocolate Cream Pie. The meal was delicious as always but that pie was sinfully good.

Being Wednesday evening we returned to Kevin and Melissa’s to have our weekly visit. We learned that Matthew left at 5:30 this morning on a three day field trip to the Muskoka area with his grade seven school classmates. We’ve heard of other kids that have done that trip coming back totally exhausted and continuing to talk about it until they graduate from grade eight. Cameron has been diligently working on his Christmas List that Kathy asks him to make every year. By the time we left there had been plenty of laughing some of it at Kathy’s expense.
Truly a sign of Spring
Hopefully we don’t have any problems sleeping tonight because our day is totally scheduled. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Krackers

A salesman rings the doorbell and 10-year old Jimmy answers,

holding a beer and smoking a cigar.

The salesman asks, "Is your mother home?"

Jimmy taps his ash on the carpet and says, "What do you think?"
