Surprises Good and Bad.

Our Location today is Punta Gorda, Florida, USA.

By 7:00 this morning I couldn’t take laying in bed any longer so I went to the computer and started my morning reading. By 7:30 Kathy sensed my absence in bed and came out to join me. We had an agenda in mind for this morning so we didn’t wait too long to have our breakfast. Shortly after 8:00 I was calling the Fort Myers Camping World to reserve a replacement toilet for our rear bathroom. By 9:00 we were on the road headed for Fort Myers. The temperatures were already warmer than they were yesterday so we dressed for the warmth.

Due to the sudden increase in the fuel prices over the last two days and the fact that it has been nearly a month since the last time we fueled we thought it was time. On our return from Camping World we stopped at the nearby Speedway where I topped off both our tanks at $2.629 a gallon which added up to a savings of approximately $35.00 from what it cost us on January 7th in Moore Haven. The clerk at the Speedway also registered us for a bonus card so that we can also save on future purchases.

Thinking that the savings at the pumps had just reduced the cost of our new toilet was short lived when we drove across the street to the Publix Grocery Store. Since it is the beginning of the month Kathy choose what she bought carefully but at the same time shopped to refill our freezer. We rolled back into the Sun-n-Shade RV Resort minutes after 12:00 so as soon as we finished putting the groceries away we enjoyed our lunch.

When we were finished eating I walked over to check out the laundry room before going up to the office to inform them of incoming packages that we’d ordered. Since the clerk was busy with another customer I simply looked at the parcels on the counter and was amazed to find one of our packages already there. I was about to turn away when the clerk looked up and informed me there was a second package there as well. Wow another surprise.

Back at the trailer we opened the mail and stored the contents accordingly. We seem to go through the bottom seals on our shower door for no reason and since we couldn’t find them at most places we looked we ordered them from Nature Coast RV in Crystal River and had extras shipped to us. The next parcel was a camera lens for our second Canon DSLR for the purpose of improved wildlife pictures.

I spent the next hour re-installing our new second toilet, testing for leaks and then cleaning up my tools. For supper I grilled hot dogs on the Weber and as usual they were perfect. What was not perfect was we suddenly had a line of people knocking at our door complaining that the corner of the American Flag that was on the front of our trailer was touching the ground and some were being belligerent about it. You smelled the alcohol on their breaths so that kind of gave them a macho complex. We fly both flags when we’re in the US out of respect for our host country and never had a problem because the flags never came close to the ground. The front of our lot here is higher than the rear so the flags are much closer to the ground. The only way to remedy the situation was to take the flags down. Why does alcohol ruin good intentions?

Why didn't the millionaire ever take a bath?

Because he was filthy rich.

  1. We had some flag issues many years ago so now don't fly any.

  2. Don't let this jerks stop you from flying your flags. Just figure a way to lift them a bit.
