Change of Plans and a Priceless Visit.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

We had no problems falling asleep with the windows ajar last night but by 3:00 having the covers pulled up to our necks wasn’t enough to keep warm. There was so much fresh air already in the apartment that I shut the window tight & we still slept soundly until around 8:00 this morning.

Once breakfast was completed we did our usual reading at the computers then Kathy needed to lay back down for a morning Snap because she is still fighting that bug she caught this last week. We found out last night when visiting with Tyler and Karen that he had been home sick last Monday and we had visited with him last Sunday. Schools are breeding grounds for germs and then when the kids bring it home people who are no longer exposed to those environments such as retired grandparents are sure to get it. Kathy has never turned away a sniveling nosed child who wants a hug and loving but her body makes her pay dearly for it afterwards. That’s okay Tyler grandma still loves you.

We were in a predicament today because we had received notice yesterday (Sunday) not to use the building sewage or drainage system from 12:30 until after 4:30. If it had been the fresh water supply that would have been an easy fix by simply filling a water jug or two but this was different. This time if we forgot and sent something down the drain somebody would be in a lot of s#*t a very bad mood. I couldn’t even pack away the last tool box that I still have in the living room in case that I would need to wash my hands.

Since we had dinner plans made our safest bet was to leave home for the afternoon. We headed over towards the Devonshire Mall to pass the afternoon. Since we were in no hurry I drove the backroads which just happened to take us through our old neighborhood past the home we used to own. Driving by we noticed a few things that looked strange so with plenty of time on our hands we drove around the block not once but twice changing the direction of our travels each time so as not to look suspicious. From the well-manicured landscape that we had meticulously maintained to the now overgrown mess that now exists. The saying to each their own quickly snapped us back to the reality that all that work was the reason we sold the house in the first place.

We spent the next four hours mall walking only stopping for a mid-afternoon coffee. We did stop at Black’s Camera Shop while walking by where I was showing Kathy the price of a lens that I recently purchased online. For the price that Black’s Camera Shop was showing next to the lens I purchased the lens, a filter, a used camera body identical to the one we already had and the Tulip Sun Shield all on E-bay. We now understand why more people are doing their shopping online.

At 5:00 we headed up Howard Avenue to Jose’s Bar and Grill (formerly Jose’s Noodle Factory) to meet our good friends Bill and Vera for supper. When we arrived we thought we’d wait in the parking lot until they arrived but decided to go in and reserve a table. It’s a good thing we got out of our car because their car was in the shop and they had a loaner and they were watching for the truck. Jose’s has undergone a major renovation this year including the name change and this was our first time back there since. We all ordered the Monday Special which was a full rack of ribs with Honey/Garlic Sauce and you could cut the meat from the bones with a fork. The meal was wonderful and reasonably priced but the conversation and friendship that flowed for the next three hours was priceless. Since Bill and Vera have traveled with us before they were curious about our future travels, our children and grandchildren. We sadly said our good nights in the parking lot while making plans to get together before we head south this winter.

Tomorrow I have to get caught up on what I didn’t do today and it looks like we’ll be having another late night. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  3. We know exactly what you mean by...You can never go home. People would stop and ask it they could look at the gardens and Paul's garden train. It was like a park. Now....yuck!
