Registered Escapees.

Our Location today is Goshen, Indiana.

We were both awake shortly around 7:30 this morning after having another peaceful night of sleep. The only problem Kathy had was she needed to put on her sweater because the inside temperature was in the low 40’s F this morning. As we watched the Weather Channel we noted that the cold temp was not going to be a problem today.
Looking through the trees is a steady line of RVs on the road.
With breakfast out of the way we headed to the office to do our morning reading on the computers. With time nearing 10:00 you could hear the sounds of diesel engines gathering in the air.  Being an RVer that has attended an Escapade before we already knew the answer as to what the sound was.

We chose to be among the Earlybird Escapee Registers so we hopped on our bikes to go take care of that chore. As we looked out towards the main road all one could see was a continual line of RVs filling the driveway into the fairgrounds and continuing back in the direction of the town of Goshen.

Today Kathy and I were not playing dodgem with all the participants of the farm auction so it was clear sailing that ended only when we reached the registration building. You could tell we were anxious to get signed in because we’d left our confirmation form back at the trailer. Kathy sat and caught her breathe while I went back and retrieved our documents. There were plenty of first timers that had just arrived who had walked the entire distance from their rigs who were glad to find somewhere to sit down after such an exertion.

It took less than five minutes to get our IDs and attendance kit. We also noted changes that had been made to the hall we were in since our last visit. We even indulged ourselves by having a complimentary cup of coffee and donut that we would definitely wear off on our return to the trailer.

We took a different return route through the Vendors parking area and were happy to see a few familiar rigs even if their occupants were busy setting up their booths in the commercial buildings. We followed the south fairground road and got to wave to a lot of the new arrivals waiting to be led to where they will be parked.

As we approached the first checkpoint into the grounds I noted a couple that we had seen yesterday but they had been too busy so we hadn’t spoken to them. Sam & Donna Weibel were volunteering to help get everyone parked into the areas that they belonged. Kathy was feeling the effects of the high humidity and long ride so she kept riding on to the trailer. I managed to talk to Donna for a brief moment with the promise that we’d get a chance to visit before the end of the rally.

After lunch we went through the information packages we’d been given and decided on what Seminars we wanted to attend this week. Beyond what many people think we don’t know everything but are always willing to learn something new. Kathy also noted that some of the outside vendors would be opening today so she suggested we check them out.

As we rode back towards the vendor’s buildings it was a flurry of activity as everyone involved was trying to get their booths set up for tomorrow and trucks were being backed to the doors to off load their wares. Everyone who owns an RV tries to personalize it not just by adding gadgets or modifying the structure but also its appearance. Kathy spotted a stain glass window vendor and he explained how I could easily install it for her. He also explained that it could be moved from one RV to another. Kathy was interested in one design until Richard showed her another. That was it we made a deposit and will pick it up tomorrow and hopefully have it installed before the rain starts in the afternoon.

For Happy Hour we sat in front of our trailer in the shade talking to our neighbors sharing experiences we’ve all had. For Supper our Weber Q was busy grilling Farmers Sausages, Asparagus and Sliced Sweet Potatoes to go with the Asian Salad and Strawberry Shortcakes that Kathy had put together.

The temperature became too much for Kathy this evening and we had to turn on the Air Conditioner. That won’t last too long because it looks like we’ll be running the heaters at night later this week and wearing jackets a few days. Today was busy but tomorrow will be worse. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
