Rally Finale.

Our Location today is Goshen, Indiana.

Last night before going to bed I made certain both the electric cube heaters were running as well as opening the faucet in the rear washroom to a steady drip. I even set the furnace to turn on at 65 F so that our fresh water tank and anything in the basement wouldn’t freeze. Yes the temperatures were supposed to drop to the freezing mark here last night. Since Kathy is fighting a bad cold the last thing she needed to be was cold while she slept. Twice throughout the night I was awakened by a strange noise before realizing it was our furnace turning on to supplement the warmth from the cube heaters. What happened to that beautiful springtime weather we were getting last week.
It will be interesting to see how many rigs try to leave tomorrow.
We took the last day of seminars off choosing to just hang around the trailer most of the day. Besides the usual computer time we worked together recreating food in the refrigerator so that it wouldn’t spoil. That fifteen minutes of our time not only made lunch for us today but for tomorrow as well.
Closing Ceremonies this afternoon.

After lunch I took the trash out to the dumpster and emptied the grey tanks and sewer hoses in preparation for another cold night. The temperature did hit a balmy 50 F so Kathy continued to get some additional rest that she needed but the end result is that her cold is starting to break.

Around 2:30 we did venture out together to the General Meeting Building for the Escapade’s Closing Ceremony. There are things that Kathy will forgo when she is not up to par but this was not one of them. Fortunately we were able to catch one of the shuttles which minimized Kathy’s time exposed to the cold breeze that was keeping the flags flying fairly straight.
This was only a third of the volunteers.
The ceremony started at 3:00 and all the volunteers were thanked and recognized. Special recognition was given to one couple that have volunteered for the last 21 consecutive Escapades. Also given recognition were the Birds of a Feather (BOF) groups that raised additional monies to support the Escapees Care Program. A special note was made of a mother daughter team that have volunteered for the last 5 Escapades. The mother looked to be in her late fifties early sixties but her actual age is 92 and she is still very active. Finally the Escapade theme song was sung and with hugs and handshakes everyone started leaving the building.
Everyone leaving until the next time.

We lucked out for a second time catching another shuttle back to the infield parking area. It helped shorten the time that Kathy was again exposed to more cold and rain showers.
Kathy glad to be back in the warmth of the trailer.
For supper I donned my raingear and grilled a couple of nice salmon fillets on the Weber while Kathy cooked up some Brussels Sprouts, and a Sweet Potato with a hot cup of tea to warm us up.

There is some entertainment at the hall tonight but since there won’t be any shuttle service we’ll stay where it’s toasty and dry. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

Krackers

Why did Moses wander the desert for forty years?

Being a man he wouldn't ask for directions.

  1. Sounds like you enjoyed most of the rally there despite the weather.Keep warm.
If you find this cold southern Arizona goes down to around freezing or below most nights during the the winter months. We just keep a huge comforter on the bed and wear a toque to bed. No cube heaters in when we boondock.

  2. At least you guys are feeling good enough to get some good food into you. No fun to be sick and have the weather be cold and damp. Hope it spikes up a bit for the weekend!
