A Day Filled With Many Things!

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Kathy and I both managed to sleep properly last night and were able to wake up feeling refreshed. I was up by 7:30 and within minutes Kathy was following me into the dining room.

Of course the Weather Channel showed that this would be the perfect day for working outside. Yes you read that correctly that four letter word that most of us retirees try to avoid.

We spent a few minutes going on the computers to do our morning reading. After getting Kathy’s laptop repaired at the computer shop my laptop seemed like a child wanting attention when it would not update the latest blogs posted even after I rebooted it. I had to go to yesterday’s blogs of the daily writers to connect to this morning’s post.

Shortly after 9:30 we were on our way to Amherstburg but we made a quick stop at the trailer first. What was waiting for us in Amherstburg was a tree that was in desperate need of a trim at our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa’s home. With Kevin’s hands full of Arthritis there is no way he could trim it himself or climb a ladder so I volunteered to help.

We arrived shortly before 10:30 and right away Kevin and I started getting the step ladder and pole saw ready. Kathy and Melissa both disappeared into the house because they are scared of seeing someone (me) up on a twelve foot ladder. We needed to keep moving the ladder from spot to spot in order to reach all the low hanging branches that needed to be trimmed.  At one point their neighbor drove away so we used her driveway to trim branches that overhung above it. We were in the process of cleaning all the cuttings when she returned. The reason she had left was the same reason Kathy and Melissa were in the house.

Even though the temperature was only in the mid 40’s both Kevin and I were soaking wet with sweat. In the house we sat relaxing as we talked for a bit enjoying a few snacks and a warm cup of tea. Both Kevin and Melissa were happy with the end result. It was nearly 2:00 by the time we started heading for home.

As we were driving along Kathy suggested we stop in to visit our dear friend Pauline Smith whom we haven’t seen in a while. Unfortunately she wasn’t at home so we left a note wishing her the best. We drove through the old neighborhood and noticed that the new owners of our old house had made an addition to the back of their home. We continued back to the apartment using the back roads because we just were not in a rush.

For supper I grilled a couple of Johnsonville Brats on the Weber which always makes things taste better. Once we had the dishes finished I filled our Daucets for the next two weeks. By the time I finished that it was time to watch the 6 o’clock News. With all the fresh air that I had today I might not see the late news.

Since this was Sunday evening we went over to visit with our daughter Karen and her family. Even with all the therapy that she has been going through since the accident she is in constant pain and discomfort. Son-in-law Greg finished putting the new furniture together for Tyler’s bedroom. Granddaughter Kylla and Noah were just stepping out for the evening when we arrived. Grandson Tyler is constantly in the fridge which is typical of a growing boy. Granddaughter Ashley arrived just before we left so Kathy made certain she got her birthday gift because we’ll be in Indiana for that date.

Now typing through half closed eyes I’m writing the blog with thoughts of what we’ll be doing tomorrow. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. So sorry to hear your daughter continues to have pain. That must be very hard to cope with. The tree looks much better.
