Chores and Strawberry Social.

Our Location today is Crystal River, Florida.

After a good night’s sleep I was up at 7:00 this morning. Of course it was made cozier by the fact that we needed to run the furnace again last night. Kathy needed a bit more sleep and slept in until 7:30 before she finally came out for breakfast. Watching the Weather channel we were happy to note that we only have one more cold day to put up with this coming week before we start to warm up. We were also happy that we weren’t back home where our kids and grandchildren are continuing to put up with more of that white stuff and extreme cold temperatures.
By 9:30 we had finished our morning reading on the computers and had the door and windows wide open letting in the warmest temperatures that we had felt since our arrival here in Florida. The high later this afternoon would finally reach 69 F (20.5 C) and it felt wonderful. Again we made our plans on what chores and projects we intended to work on today.
Another way Kathy cleans the fridge.
I hauled out the materials and tools for the Breadbox I’m making for Kathy. Presently she does as most RVers and uses the oven but then has to empty it out when she bakes or roasts anything. Since I was nearing the point of assembling it she reminded me about refastening the trim inside our front closet. So I told her to empty it out and I went and got the compressor our of its storage box in the truck.

This problem with the trim in the front closet is the same problem that we have had repaired at General RV four times since we’ve had the trailer. When I was about to start fastening it I saw what the problem was. Every time someone would fix it they would just put the trim in place and shoot a bunch of Brad nails into it. That would last for about ten miles down the road because they were so many Brad nails in there that they were only holding in the other Brad nails. I spent a half hour just pulling out the unnecessary Brads that were actually getting in the way. When I was finished Kathy was very happy with the result and solid feel to the closet wall and didn’t have any problems refilling it with clothes.
Brad nails that were keeping the closet wall apart.
Back to my original project I had more chiseling to do to make everything fit the way it is supposed to. As I was about to start the assembly the 4:00 breeze started whipping up and you could feel the temperature start to drop. Kathy went in to start making supper while I closed up shop.
Salad, Half a Sweet Potato and a Grilled Salmon Patty for supper.
After supper we went to the Clubhouse for a Strawberry Shortcake Social. Like the Ice Cream Social two weeks ago the profits they make from the proceeds go to a local charity so it is a Win-Win deal. Kathy and I sat talking with Ken who is a retired truck driver from Nebraska.
Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer but with a greater risk of rain. We still have things we want to finish on the trailer but we will be going back to swim with the Manatee before we leave Rock Crusher RV Park on Sunday. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. We will be staying in Williston at Williston Crossings next year. It is close to our son and family in Gainesville, and we have stayed there when both grandsons were born. Love the area and the backroads and small towns. Enjoy the warmer weather!
