Prep Day

Getting to bed at a decent hour last night didn’t change the time we got up this morning. It seems that our biological clocks know that we are in the apartment and says “What’s the rush?” This is the third morning in a row that we wake up around 8:30 but it was very overcast and moderately raining.
With breakfast completed Kathy started sorting and treating the laundry. I made the bed, got dressed and readied myself to go to the laundry room. Strangely by the time I got there others had just finished and were on their way out. I stayed until the wash was completed and everything was in the dryers.
Kathy had just finished vacuuming the apartment and made a shopping list of supplies we needed for our weekend trip. I now had 50 minutes to read our E-mails and blogs before I had to be downstairs to fold the dried clothes.
For lunch we had French toast and then headed out the door dodging construction zone after construction zone in the drizzling rain to run a half dozen errands including turning on the fridge in the trailer and packing away our freshly washed clothes.
As soon as we walked in to the apartment the phone was flashing that we had a message. Factory Direct the store we had returned our out of warranty television to, had called to say it worked just fine and the best part “No Charge.” Back across town during rush hour traffic through the construction zones and the all day rain to pick up our television.
I figured on taking the expressway home from the store only to get caught in bumper to bumper traffic leading to the ramp. The problem was a minor fender bender and somebody had put small warning cones blocking an entire lane while both vehicles were well off the road on the shoulder. I did mention the all day rain we were having.
Finally getting on the expressway we had only travelled two miles when the traffic started coming to a halt. You could see emergency flashers lighting up the dismally rainy daylight. Directed to an off ramp you could see about six police cars, two fire-trucks and two ambulances. The detour we had been directed to brought us directly past the storage yard for our trailer so we stopped in and put the television in the trailer. I’ll remount it while we are away.
After supper we stopped in at our daughter Karen’s since we weren’t in town for our Sunday night visit. Our granddaughter Ashley was telling us of her role as the Sugar Plum Fairy that she landed in an upcoming production of the Nutcracker. Tyler was excited about our trip tomorrow. Kylla was talking of concerns for her upcoming knee surgery. Sanford the puppy is still growing and full of energy. Greg was working outside so I gave him a hand to rehang the side gate on the fence.
Now we can coast for the rest of the night and maybe even sleep before we hit the road on our next adventure in the morning. With only 138 days until Christmas I hope you are enjoying following our adventures. Be Safe and Enjoy!
