Mothers Day Get Together.

Our Location Today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

It was almost an eerie feeling when I slept in this morning without the thought of rushing out the door to work on the Firepit Patio. One of the reasons I had pushed to complete it yesterday was that it was supposed to be raining this morning. At 8:00 the Weather Channel was showing that it was raining in our area but it was dry as a bone. By 9:10 the Weather Channel was finally showing clear but overcast for our area and it was raining cats and dogs for the next half hour. ????? They got it right for this afternoon beautiful sunshine with comfortable temperatures.
Notice the old firepit off to the left side of the patio.
After breakfast Kathy and I read blogs and E-mails and got ready to do some shopping this afternoon. First place we went to was a florist to pickup flowers for our oldest granddaughter Ashley who turns 18 tomorrow. Next we went to drop them off only to find nobody home. Back home we went to call her cell phone and refrigerate the flowers so the buds would not open until we could get them to her. Found out she'd be over at Karen and Greg's for supper so we'd see her there. DUH why didn't we think of that before.
Patio brick pattern is called Herringbone.
Bricks inside the pit alow air for the fire to breath and off the damp ground.
Circular bricks are special for firepits and weigh 45lbs each.

Out we went again to find the remainder of our needs that were written on our Go-For list. We tried the Tecumseh Mall and after a few stores managed to scratch everything from our list. We still had time on our hands so we enjoyed a coffee and donut from Tim Horton's at the food court. After we returned home to freshen up pickup the flowers from our fridge and the camera we headed over to Karen and Greg's where we were invited for Mothers Day supper.

Greg's parents Ray and Rose were also there so we had a chance to visit with them. We took them out back to see the patio which even Kathy had not seen completed. They were impressed. Back in the house Karen and Greg were starting to plate the Spinach and Sauted Beet salad with smoked Gouda cheese and carving the smoked chicken and spare ribs. Supper was fantastic and we were all comfortably full only to be surprised with Strawberry Shortcake for dessert.
Greg's father Ray singing the old classics.
After supper was over Ray brought out his guitar and we were entertained by many of the old classics that were popular around the 40's and 50's. He even played a song that he had changed the name to Rose's name when they were courting making her blush with excitment .
Greg's Mother Rose.
We hope that all the Mothers out there were able to have an enjoyable day with family and friends.
